Hello Everyone!

I wrote this article to get some feedback on an idea I have for the direction of Rival Marketing. I am mainly looking for feedback from Business Owners who would be looking for a marketing company. I am also looking for feedback from Freelancers and other Marketers. If you have any feedback good or bad please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. One of the most difficult challenges in marketing has always been creative differences between the client and the designers. Designers tend to be sensitive about their work and tend to work best when they are not creatively limited. Clients tend to be critical and sometimes don't trust the experience of the designers and marketers they are working with. At the end of the day, the client always has the final say because otherwise they walk away and take their business elsewhere, some marketing companies do whatever the client wants, and if the idea doesn't work out who gets blamed, the marketer. Bigger marketing companies will sometimes avoid these clients because of this. It is a problem I see everywhere I go in marketing. Every company has had a bad experience with a designer at some point. So this is a very real problem that doesn't really have an easy solution.

What if Big Data could solve this problem?

Similar to online dating my idea is that if you match your clients with a design team that has compatible personality types and creative styles you could potentially solve this problem and make the entire marketing process a lot smoother and more effective.

The way this would work is the client and the freelancers would take a survey collecting different metrics like Myers Briggs Personality Type, Creative Preferences, Industry, Location, and Target Demographics. You would then be paired up with the most compatible freelancers in our system and an Account Manager. Account managers will have a bachelors degree or 2 years of experience in digital marketing, their job is to manage and optimize all of your marketing campaigns, meet with you once a week to discuss strategy and feedback, and direct your creative team to create artwork that you need for marketing. For all intents and purposes, you will only have to work with your account manager and creative director and they will move mountains to make sure you are satisfied.

Following your requests, your account manager (matched based on Myers Briggs type), would then direct your local artist (matched based on location), your industry specialist (matched based on your companies industry), your creative director (matched based on your desired design style) and your persona marketer (matched based on your target demographics) to create the artwork that you will need for your website, social media, and marketing campaigns. If you don't get along with someone on your team, you can request to have them reassigned and they will be switched with another freelancer. If you request them to be reassigned, we could use that request to improve our compatibility algorithm.

The Dream Team would also be comprised of freelancers in 5 different areas:

  1. Account Manager
  2. Web Designer
  3. Photographer
  4. Copywriter
  5. Graphic Designer

Your account manager would also have access to specialists within the creative network for things like:

  • Video
  • Drone Footage
  • Brand Consulting
  • Animation
  • Audio Engineering
  • Influencer Marketing
  • And more

Other common problems I see that this solution can solve:

  • A client finds a great marketing company, but they are out of state and can't offer localized content.
  • A client finds a great marketing company, but the client or marketing company is too small to provide/receive the attention they need.
  • A client wants a marketing company that specializes in their industry.
  • A client finds a marketing company that they get along with but the company falls short in other ways like their ability to produce certain content.
  • A clients marketing team does not possess the tools needed to do marketing in 2018.
  • A client finds a small independent marketer that doesn't have the creative talent to fulfill their needs.
  • A client hires someone to do their marketing but later finds out their skills are limited to one method
  • A client finds a GREAT team to work with but they really don't get along with one person on the team so they fire the whole team, instead of just that one person.
  • A client wants a large marketing company but they really like a specific artist and wants that artist on their marketing team.
  • A client wants a large marketing company and lots of content but they don't have the budget.
  • A client wants multiple samples to pick from but only has a budget for one.
  • A client wants an internal marketer but is worried they are limited to certain design perspectives.
  • A client wants something for their website that is out of their current designer's capabilities or expertise.
  • A designer wants to work with clients they get along with but can't afford to turn work away from clients that don't get along with, setting the whole thing up to fail.
  • A designer is really good but refuses to work for a marketing company or client directly because they would lose their freedom.

Why do we need this?

  • Having a team for the same cost as hiring a marketing professional will increase your marketing capabilities without costing you more money.
  • In theory, you would be WAY more likely to get along with your marketing company.
  • In theory, your marketing content would reflect your business more accurately.
  • You get a local artist as well as nationally completive talent.
  • You hardly must do anything other than Skype with your account manager 1hr a week.
  • With this method, you would have a team of part-time freelancers that can accomplish almost any creative task.
  • This would allow you to create lots of high-quality marketing content at a very low competitive price.
  • This would give you varying content for Persona Marketing.
    • Persona marketing is sending different content to different people based on their personalities. If you find out they are Cat people you can send them an email with a Cat picture in it. This makes content more engaging but if you have 10 different persona's you need 10x the content. That gets expensive very quickly, however, the ROI is much higher, and this also solves lots of other issues such as spam filters and controversial content.
  • Artists would be creating artwork that aligns with their talent and skills. They could develop a niche style that they are most qualified to design and you will get the BEST designer for that original style.
  • Would get access to our MAP software and your account manager would operate the marketing side of the system and train you and your sales team on the sales side of it.

In short, I think this is a great solution to some of marketing's most challenging problems, it would be great for Marketers, Freelancers, and Clients. I am excited to hear your feedback.
